Brief History

The community of Lyle was established in about 1859 at which time it was known as Klickitat Landing. It received its current name in 1866 when it was named after the first European settler. Originally, the community relied on steamboats to deliver mail until the railroad was established here in 1909. This has always been a small community and remains small to this day.
