White Salmon is a beautiful, rural town situated on the bluff overlooking the Columbia River in Washington. White Salmon is located in Klickitat County and is home to approximately 2,000 people. The views from White Salmon are spectacular and draw thousands of visitors each year. From the bluff looking south you can see the Columbia Gorge as well as the majestic Mt. Hood.
The phrase "The Land Where the Sun Meets the Rain" is often used to describe the climate around White Salmon. White Salmon is located in a transition zone between the marine-influenced climate west of the Cascade Mountain range and the dry continental climate of the inner-mountain region. The transition zone typically results in westerly winds in the summer and chilly easterlies in the winter.

The Klickitat County area was once home to the Klickitat and Wishram tribes, both of which ceded the land to the U.S. government in 1855. The Klickitat and White Salmon rivers, both tributaries of the Columbia, flow through Klickitat County.
White Salmon after the nearby White Salmon River, by the Lewis and Clark Expedition when they observed the river teeming with salmon whose color had turned white after spawning. White Salmon was officially incorporated on June 3, 1907.

Northwestern Lake Riding Stables is located in the Columbia Gorge, just outside of White Salmon. There are guided trail rides ranging in length from one to four hours. The stable area has running water, bathroom facilities, a place to change and picnic tables.
